Region 2 Healthcare Coalition
The Northwest Region EMS and Trauma Care Council in conjunction with the Region 2 Public Health and Hospital Emergency Preparedness and Response Committee have moved into their second phase of preparedness planning. Over the past couple of years, we have focused exclusively on hospital preparedness in Public Health Region 2 (Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap Counties). We are now developing both local and regional Healthcare Coalitions which will move our preparedness efforts from the hospitals to the overall healthcare community.
Our goal is to have a cohesive group of medical organizations that will provide seamless medical care for the citizens of our Region during an emergency. Everyone saw what happened during Hurricane Katrina—fractured services and isolated providers, dwindling resources, and very little help from the outside for almost a week--we don’t want that to happen in our Region. Through planning, preparation, and training, we are developing a comprehensive system that will allow hospitals and the larger community to respond better during any kind of disaster.

Local and Regional Healthcare Coalition Meetings
- The Kitsap County Healthcare Coalition meets on the fourth Thursday of every other (odd) month at 9:30am at Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale. This coalition is coordinated by Laura Jull.
- The Clallam County Healthcare Coalition meeting on the third Friday of every month at 10am at Olympic Medical Center in Pt Angeles. This Coalition is coordinated by Tom Oblak.
- The West Olympic Healthcare Coalition meets on the third Friday of every other (odd) month at 1pm at Forks Ambulance in Forks. This coalition is coordinated by .Rebecca Wilson.
- The Jefferson County Healthcare Coalition meets at dates to be determined at Jefferson Healthcare in Pt Townsend. This coalition is coordinated by Jim Skannes.
- Region 2 Hospital Prep meetings are held every other month (see calendar on the home page for details).
- The Region 2 Healthcare Coalition meetings are held quarterly (see calendar on the home page for details).
