Suicide Prevention

HOME

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the Northwest Region.  Between 2000 and 2004, there were 257 deaths by suicide in Mason, Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap Counties as well as 949 hospitalizations due to attempted suicide in our Region.  We are currently in the developmental stages of our Suicide Prevention Program.  The Northwest Region is an active participant in the Kitsap Suicide Prevention Task Force and acts as a conduit for suicide prevention information throughout the Northwest Region.

Kitsap Suicide Prevention Task Force:  This group meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 3:30pm at the Norm Dicks Government Center, 4th Floor Conference Room.  All are invited to attend.  Contact Barb Smithson at 360-337-5250 for more information.
